My New Song

Wake me in the morning in the middle of a dream
Wake me with another dream besides
Catch me unaware like Autumn in the air
Catch me where my secret prayer resides
Don't speak riddles baby
Don't speak rhymes
Speak it straight plain and true
Like a river runnin' to the sky between the pines
Runnin' right back to you

Show me where you're at with your Michigan hands
Kiss me while we listen to those Michigan bands
Hey what would you say if I could find my way back home

Wake me in the daytime in the middle of a dream
Wake me with a coffee colored kiss
Whisper in cinnamon, sugar and cream
Reminding me of all the things I miss
Don't be bitter baby don't be cold
Patience is a virtue but it's hard
Like the ice on the walk on the summertime chalk
Through the Winter in your front yard

Show me where you're at with your Michigan hands
Kiss me while we listen to those Michigan bands
Hey what would you say if I could find my way back home

Wake me in the nighttime in the middle of a dream
Wake me with the dream you dream tonight
Tell me where you stray when you slip so far away
And girl what pulls you back into the light
But don't you worry baby there's no hurry
The dawn it has a way all of it's own
Like one water drop will freeze and stop
And split right through the center of a stone

Show me where you're at with your Michigan hands
Kiss me while we listen to those Michigan bands
Hey what would you say if I could find my way back home

Love, Joe Nolan

Mi querido Pepe,

Yesterday I was browsing on the Internet and jumped into your website. For my surprise, you have included your new beautiful song This is very curious: two days ago, before reading your blog, I was at home in bed. It was nearly 1'30 a.m. and couldn't sleep at all. I opened my notebook of poems and this is what I wrote:

Don't wake me up
in the morning
and let me dream
on Summer nights
filled with wine and desire.
Dance me gently
through the stars
and lay me down
in a bed of rainbow.
Let the rain falling outside,
people running in the street.
Let me feel the beat of your heart,
my ear on your chest,
my lips on your neck,
so close to me.
Don't wake me up
and let me sleep
to end of fear.

!!!!!!

In Spain we say that when a butterfly moves its wings somewhere, it causes an earthquake on the other side of the world. Isn't it curious that we both used the same words?

Un beso,

Is

I read this back when you first posted it, and I thought , "Well done, Joe. "
I just came across it again and read it maybe differently. This time, I guess my mind filled in a little music or at least a kind of a tune, and I felt it a little more than read it. I really like this one alot. Lately I feel like I'm ten different people that will never meet. This song touches at least three of them. With much more viscera, I say agin, "Well done, Joe. Well done."
